Childers Ranch celebrated its 58th year in 2009 under the leadership of my father Spencer Childers. Over those many years, 186 acres of the finest land in the central San Joaquin Valley were devoted to the production of quality Quarter Horses. Through his dedication and vision, the Childers' breeding program was blessed with the services of such noted sires as Tiny Charger, Ettabo, Shirleys Champion (TB), Question Mark, Four Forty King, Fast Jet, Jazzing Hi and now Bono Jazz, who is available in Florida to the public as well as to our own band of broodmares. Our foundation mare was Champion Black Easter Bunny. Her female family line, through her daughter Champion Bunnys Bar Maid, appears in the pedigrees of twelve AQHA Champions. My father paid concentrated attention to both developing and preserving this line, which still strongly influences our broodmare band. Over the years, we bred AQHA Champions Bunnys Bar Maid, Blobby Charger, Black Sable, Jet View and Uncas. We also bred Rare Jet, the sire of Champion Refrigerator. We, as well as the Quarter Horse racing industry in general, have greatly benefited from my father's astute horsemanship in breeding, raising, and racing. We recently moved to Templeton, California, where we continue implementing my father's legacy for some of the finest and most successful Quarter Horses in the world. We remain under family management. It is truly humbling to walk in my father's footsteps but we do it with tremendous pride. David Spencer Muzio and I will continue to maintain the integrity and quality that my father established and we look forward to sharing it with you. |
